....Another bill that should not be very controversial has been made so by some legislative leaders. Legislation to “rightsize” the state-run reinsurance company known as the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund, or Cat Fund, was added to the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee. Rep. Dorothy Hukill, R-Port Orange, chair of the Economic Affairs Committee, which oversees the aforementioned subcommittee, yanked the bill from the agenda within an hour of receiving it. Critics say the bill would increase rates because companies who purchase below-market reinsurance coverage from the Cat Fund would have to replace that with coverage from the more expensive private market. Proponents contend that the bill would protect the state’s consumers from the potentially catastrophic scenario where the Cat Fund would not have the ability to pay its claims following a storm, thus leaving thousands of Floridians without their legitimate claims being paid. They also contend that the bill would reduce rates prospectively because it would decrease the likelihood of post-hurricane assessments that the Cat Fund would have to levy on every insurance policy in the state to cover its debts.... read more at out of the storm news.com

Hank
Just another personal observation of Mitt Romney.
I do not know what romney is trying to project with his stone washed jeans and open white shirt, what I see no matter what he wears is a rich man dressed in a TOP HAT,WHITE TIE AND TAILS,OH YES A WALKING CANE STROLLING DOWN FIFTH AVENUE OR RODEO DRIVE.
His latest remark,"I am not concerned with the very poor' almost seems like something out of the French Revolution Days,Let Them Eat Cake.
It may come as a shock to Romney but the Middle Class he is so concerned with is slowly but surely slipping down the ladder into the very poor category while waiting for the trickle down from the rich corporate moguls.
We in America may very well be developing our own Caste System .It appears that the VERY POOR are our UNTOUCHABLES.

During the second world war, my dad worked long hours at the sperry's defense plant. 7 days a week. I remember him always trying to stay awake when he was home, but snoringly falling asleep in his chair. After the war was over, he returned to normal working hours, and enjoying fishing, he often took me on a charter boat going out of Sheephead's bay on weekends. We went on Capt. Izzy's boat. During the week, he kept up with fishing reports in a 7 am news radio fishing report. The introduction to the fishing report section played the song, Sailor's Hornpipe. Whenever I hear the song, I have happy memories of fishing with dad on weekends. -- hank
