Beat Memories: The Photographs of Allen Ginsberg is the first scholarly exhibition to feature the photographs of American poet Allen Ginsberg. Open through September 16, it explores all facets of his work in photography. Some 79 works on display range from the 1950s "drugstore" prints to his now celebrated portraits of Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs, snapshots of Ginsberg himself taken just before he achieved literary fame, and his later portraits of the Beats and other friends made in the 1980s and 1990s. NEW LIBRARY EXHIBITION: "THE BODY INSIDE AND OUT"

The humanist movement of the Renaissance introduced new realms of possibility in the arts and the sciences, including the study of anatomy. Many artists witnessed or participated in dissections to gain a better understanding of the proportions and systems of the body. The Body Inside and Out: Anatomical Literature and Art Theory, Selections from the National Gallery of Art Library (through January 23, 2011) features outstanding examples of anatomy-related material from the Gallery's collection of rare books and offers a glimpse into the ways anatomical studies were made available to and used by artists from the 16th to the early 19th century.
